The Quest for the NPC Damage Equation

This was crazy hella good.
I didn’t quite expect to find the equation for this as I thought you guys gave up. Turned out you were grinding just for the almost final step. And you found it. Your first guess was quite good as well.

Well, until we update the economy and balance recruitment/npc damages, this equation will still be in use.
And for any new player that comes , this is the damage that only the /NPC command will do based on what level you are. Supposing you are level 1, its damage is 200 etc. In other words there exists a +15% increase for each NPC level. Anyone can now calculate easily how many troops their next npc will take.

Yup. I don’t want to say the same thing again and again but yes, we do put a lot of thought into the updates we release. Especially on the calculations/numbers to make sure everything is balanced, yet sometimes still some stuff gets through us and we have to patch it later on.

I still remember the glory days of Will of Steel with people having millions of troops, it was fun to fight but moreover just a “who can click a button the most” competition.

Now, I’m really proud of what we’ve made, Will of Steel requires a lot of thought into how you play it. You can play casually but if you want to play professionally or be #1 in a certain category (or overall) you’d have to do a bunch of calculations to figure out what the best methods are to recruiting, attacking etc.

While I think @Liam credits me a little more than he should, I really am amazed how close we were at the beginning. I started playing WoS — well I don’t remember, but it was in the era of no troop food and no recruit slots, simply a game of who was willing to sit for 6 hours recruiting artillery (which, without food, were by far the best troop). Even though this bot is still so young, it has so much history, and the amount of work @Neil and @primedust have put and continue to put into this bot is incredible. Thank you to everyone who helped with this project, @Liam for seeing my math errors (boy is my f(x)=ab^x knowledge poor), and to this bots amazing developer! Great job team!!!

Yup we knew that the old method wouldn’t last long and people would stop playing the bot because it was just, recruiting. very rarely would you get to have actual fun by using those troops, it was more over just a defence system like, yo I got troops and I have the power to recruit more, so back tf off.

ima be real honest, I wouldn’t play that game either. I don’t have like 12 hours a day to grind a game, but what it’s at right now, yes I’d play.

what makes the difference here is the updates we’ve done to improve the situation by adding food etc.

I’ll share some of our chats below if any one of you wanna see just incase. don’t wanna go off topic but I do think it’d be cool to share.
